Meet Jody

Jody grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she learned the value of hard work early, balancing school with jobs like driving a school bus and working in a local drugstore. Her love of sports, especially soccer, carried into adulthood as she coached girls’ soccer and continues today as an avid runner. She has completed 27 marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice, and you can still spot her on early morning runs through Sandy Springs.

Jody raised her twins, Carly and Jay, in Sandy Springs. Today, she and her husband, Ken, are proud to call this community home, where Ken is a supportive stepdad and partner in family life. As a parent, she became deeply involved in the schools, serving as PTO president at North Springs High School, where she led parents and community members in a nine-year effort that will result in a brand-new state-of-the-art high school to be completed in 2027. She knows firsthand that persistence and teamwork can make the “impossible” happen.

Her professional career began in finance, and later in real estate investment. Today, Jody owns and manages a successful rental property business, where many of her tenants have rented from her for more than a decade. She takes pride in keeping rents fair and homes well-maintained, showing that responsible business and community stability go hand in hand.

As your City Councilwoman for the past eight years, Jody has built a record of results: from securing a new high school, to expanding parks and pickleball courts, to advocating for smart redevelopment that will bring more families into Sandy Springs. While others have talked, she has delivered.

Jody believes Sandy Springs is at a crossroads. After more than a decade under the same leadership, key promises remain unfulfilled: a completed downtown that was first promised in 2017, real progress on North End redevelopment, and an effort to take over the city’s water system that has been tied up in court for years—the result: no system, no lower costs, and no better service for residents. Jody’s focus is on solutions that actually work, improving customer service, strengthening neighborhoods, and delivering results taxpayers can see.

She is running for mayor to bring energy, accountability, and a fresh vision, one centered on revitalizing aging properties into vibrant neighborhoods, creating a more walkable city, supporting both public and private schools, and ensuring our families have the parks and amenities they deserve.

For Jody, this campaign isn’t about politics; it’s about people. It’s about building a city where every resident, whether they rent or own, can feel proud to call Sandy Springs home.

Jody's Vision

My vision for Sandy Springs is to create vibrant neighborhoods and redevelop aging apartment communities into places that strengthen our city. I will work with businesses and developers who want to invest smartly in Sandy Springs, bringing new life to our North End and completing the downtown we were promised years ago. I will continue to support our first responders so Sandy Springs remains one of the safest cities in Georgia. I will continue to work with both public and private schools while leading the effort to establish our own Sandy Springs school system, as smaller, locally governed districts have been shown to deliver better results for our children. By focusing on redevelopment, safety, education, and fiscal responsibility, we can build the thriving, family-friendly, and walkable city our community deserves.

“This is not just another election, it’s a turning point. We cannot settle for Rusty Paul’s status quo any longer. I’m running for mayor to replace excuses with results, and to build the vibrant, thriving Sandy Springs our families deserve.”

Jody's Priorities

Inclusive, Effective Leadership

For eight years on City Council, I have seen the same small circle of people rotate through our city committees and boards, often without the expertise those roles require. Meanwhile, Rusty Paul has kept multiple hats for himself, serving as board chair of the Police Foundation, Visit Sandy Springs, the Sandy Springs Foundation, and more.

As mayor, I will change that. I will actively open the door for more residents to serve on committees and boards, bringing in new voices and fresh ideas. One of my greatest strengths is surrounding myself with people who know how to get things done. I will recruit individuals with the right expertise for each board or project and give them the resources and confidence to succeed.

I will wear one hat, being the proud mayor of Sandy Springs, and I will build a leadership team that reflects the talent, energy, and diversity of our entire community.

Renew & Reimagine Housing Opportunities

Sandy Springs already has more apartments than all of our neighboring cities combined, and too many are aging and neglected. Jody’s vision is to redevelop outdated complexes into vibrant neighborhoods, expand opportunities for owner-occupied and single-family homes, and create more modern senior housing so longtime residents can stay in the community they love.

She will also ensure that renters have safe, livable homes by strengthening code enforcement, holding property owners accountable, and protecting residents’ quality of life. At the same time, she will work with businesses and developers who want to invest smartly in Sandy Springs to create balanced, attractive communities that lift the entire city.

A Downtown That Finally Gets Built

For more than a decade, Rusty Paul has promised a completed downtown. Instead, millions have been poured into road and bridge projects — including needless traffic circles — while our real priorities have been ignored. Downtown remains unfinished, our North End is stagnant, and schools are closing as our population declines.

Jody will change that. She will deliver City Springs Phase II and bring real energy back to our city center — with restaurants, retail, green space, and gathering places that strengthen community. Her focus is on smart investments that matter, not wasteful spending that leaves Sandy Springs standing still.

Invest in Quality Education

Jody knows that strong schools are the foundation of a strong community. She led the nine-year effort to secure a brand-new building for North Springs High School, the single largest investment in Sandy Springs since the City Hall was built in 2017. She got it done when others said it couldn’t be done.

Now, she’s committed to what’s next: lights for Mt. Vernon and Holy Innocents’, continued support for all of our Sandy Springs schools, and above all, pursuing a dedicated Sandy Springs school district. Smaller, locally governed districts deliver better results, and our children deserve nothing less.

And this isn’t just about families with kids in school. Great schools protect property values, attract new families and businesses, and make every neighborhood stronger. While Spalding Drive Elementary closed on Rusty Paul’s watch, Jody will work tirelessly to build a school system that secures Sandy Springs’ future.

When it comes to our children and our schools, Jody delivers.
